About Merton Pisces Swimming Club

Welcome to Merton Pisces Swimming Club, where we have been providing top-quality swimming coaching to children in Merton and South West London since 1973. Founded by our Head Coach, Harry Green, our club recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. You can learn more about Harry and hear from our members on the ‘About the Head Coach page‘.

As a non-profit, volunteer-run club, our primary goal is to help children learn to swim and improve their skills. The fees we charge are used only to cover the cost of pool hire.

Our Approach to Coaching

At Merton Pisces, we believe every child is an individual. We coach children based on their ability, not their age, and encourage them to reach their full potential, whether they are just beginning or training for a high level of competition. Our passionate coaches are dedicated to helping each swimmer be the best they can be, while also encouraging self-discipline and responsibility in the pool.

More Than Just Swimming

While our focus is on swimming, we also know it’s important for children to have fun. We organise occasional social trips and fun nights so our swimmers can get to know each other outside of training.

We also believe in giving back to the sport and are a progressive club that encourages our older swimmers to stay in the world of aquatics by supporting them to become lifeguards, teachers, or coaches. At the moment we are proud to currently have four trainees who we hope will one day help lead our club.

Below is the clubs mission statement highlighting what the club stands for and hopes to achieve.

The object of our swimming club is to improve the swimmers individual ability to the highest standard.

Meet the Team

Our small but dedicated team of volunteers works hard to keep the club running smoothly. Our Assistant Head Coach, Zara Stevens, is a great example of this; she has been with the club for many years and we helped her train to reach her current position.
